From Chania Airport, and after a distance of 80klm in an exquisite route through rough mountains, gorges and scenic villages, you find yourself at the capital of Sfakia province.

Hora Sfakion lies in the south coast of Crete and is surrounded by the steep slopes of Lefka Ori (White Mountains). A distinctive characteristic of the area are the numerous gorges and beaches viewing the Libyan Sea, which are also considered to be among the most popular beaches in Greece.

Sfakia is also well-known for its revolutions against the Venetians and the Turks!

Things to do

At the same time you can choose a cozy tavern to enjoy your coffee after having treated yourself with a lovely stroll to the castle, located on the hill among a pine forest.
In the village centre, there are super markets, bakery shops and tourist shops with souvenirs. You could also do scuba diving, rent a boat even for fishing! From our port you can go to Glika Nera in just 5 minutes, to Loutro in 10 minutes and for a longer distance, around an hour, to Agia Roumeli. For a day outing you could visit the island of Gavdos and if you are into activities you could visit the bridge of Aradaina in Anopoli and try bungee jumping.

The village also has a health centre, a pharmacy, a post office, an ATM, car rental, taxis, a bus station, 2 gas stations, a Police Station and a Coast Guard.

Beaches which are close by and worth visiting are: Iliggas, Filaki, Glika Nera, Marmara, Koutelo and Fragokastelo.
